ubuntu evaluation
Ubuntu is pretty cool. It's a nice setup. There are a few annoyances though. Overall it's a pretty good distro - it's easy to add software and it's all setup nicely.
I'm having some problems with the internet connection. I'm using the builtin wireless network card in my laptop to connect to a wireless router connected to a DSL modem. No security on the wireless connection. It works fine under windows. It seems to work fine in ubuntu - I can download software updates and new applications through ubuntu's builtin package management system. I can ping websites. the links2 text browser works fine. Gnome's browser, galleon (which is based on mozilla), works fine. Mozilla firefox refuses to load any web pages. It's really weird because I can't seem to find anything wrong. It think it may be some configuration thing with how firefox was compiled or something. Galleon uses firefox and galleon works, but firefox doesn't. it's retarted. So, I'm just using galleon - it's pretty much the same as firefox anyway.
