This is the future. It'll allow for more intricate and complicated mechanical design (for cars, aircraft, everything) because engineers will not need to allow for human access for repair and maintenance. The microbots will be able to get into smaller areas and such. Anyone who's ever worked on an engine knows how hard it is to access all the bolts and stuff. It'll also allow designs that just aren't possible or practical to build otherwise. Microbot welders could get into the engine and weld things together instead of bolting. A huge team of microbots could assemble very intricate machines that would otherwise be impossible to build.
